Getting Started with Our Group
Browsing our website is a good start, but to really get to know us and see if you will enjoy being a part of our group, you'll have to take the plunge and come meet us! On our calendar you will see that we have a "Second Saturday Social", which is what we call an "open" event, meaning that folks like yourself who aren't a member can come on out! That's why this is one of the two scheduled items on our calendar with information on the location, address and time. The other is the Support Group meeting in Arlington, which is not operated by or affiliated with us, but we list it as a service to you and the community.

Membership Guidelines
- DFW Friends is a social organization for single people 21 years of age or older, who share our “challenge”. Our purpose is to provide a relaxed environment of fun and friendship.
- Although we have no ban on picture taking, please use discretion when taking pictures. DO NOT TAKE PICTURES AT RANDOM. Please ASK first whether a member is interested in having their picture taken or not.
- DFW Friends, Inc. is a social group, not an education or counseling group; OPEN DISCUSSION OF OUR CHALLENGE IS DISCOURAGED AT ANY EVENT, especially at events in public places. If a new member raises the subject, please keep the discussion private and discreet.
- Guests may be invited to events designated as “ open” and “semi-open” in the monthly newsletter. The person hosting the function determines designation. There should be no open discussion of our challenge at any “open” event. Guests at “semi-open” events should be made aware of our challenge.
- If you are interested in seeing someone in the group socially, outside of group events, it is your responsibility to ask them for their phone number. DFW FRIENDS takes no responsibility for relationships developed through participation in the group.
- If you have an idea for an event, please contact the Social Coordinator. However, your help to organize the event and/or host would be appreciated.
- Access to the mailing and phone lists is limited to the DFW Friends Executive Board ONLY.
- “Associate” membership is available to a previous member who has married. However, voting and holding office on the board is not permitted.
- Membership is $15.00 for 12 months.
- The term of board officers is one year unless re-elected. One-year office terms begin each January.
- Expulsion: A current member or candidate will be excluded from membership for illegal activity, or improper conduct (as defined below) or for any reason the Board may find the member/candidate is not suitable for membership. An active member may recommend the suspension or removal of a member, but a majority vote of the Executive Board is required for said suspension or removal of the member in question. Any illegal activity at an official DFW Friends function is cause for immediate expulsion. The use or possession of any illegal substance at a DFW Friends sanctioned event will result in the immediate expulsion of the parties involved. Any acts of violence or harassment towards a member, prospective member, or a member’s guest at a DFW Friends sanctioned event will result in the immediate expulsion of the members involved. Inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to; lewd conduct, public intoxication, indecent exposure and public sex will result in the suspension or permanent removal from the group.
